Malam Kebudayaan & Kesenian Putra, UPM

Written by Amutha on February 14, 2008 – 10:02 am

Last Saturday (9.2.08), the Hindu Society of UPM (PHUPM) organized the most anticipated annual event, MKSP 2008. This is the 8th MKSP for UPM, and the 4th one I attended. Previously known as Malam Kebudayaan Sempena Ponggal (and now Malam Kebudayaan & Kesenian Putra), MKSP’s main agenda is to collect funding for PHUPM’s annual activities. Each IPTA has their own cultural night, and MKSP is ours to show not only our talent, but also our commitment towards helping the community which is obviously why MKSP is being held in the first place.

Being an alumni of UPM, MSKP is not something I wish to miss. This year’s event may not be the best show UPM has put up (yes, the previous MKSPs were brilliant!) but considering the dwindling number of Indian students in UPM, I think PHUPM and the organizing commitee of MKSP 2008 deserves a huge applause. Congrats!

Now let the pictures to do the talk:

The huge ranggoli kolam at the entrance. Couldn’t stop admiring it. A lot of hard work here.

1. The kollatem. Gempar stage! :P

2. Traditional start for MKSP 2008

The crowd. It was announced that it was house full. Cool!

1. This one left me wondering where is Ravishanker :P

2. The sketch with lots of hidden meaning.

1. Gary (labeled) performing.

2. Aww… love song, anyone?

1. Gary performing again ;)

2. Contemporary? Beautiful girls though..

Looking forward the next MKSP eagerly.

    Nice!

Not many people were aware when the “arasan” mentioned about ‘tear gas’ and ‘water cannons’! My boys and myself were cheering like hell when they mentioned about it! Kudos to them! ;)

The dances were nice, as well as the sketches. Too bad, we all have to wait for about 50mins for the whole show to begin as those urumi dudes were stucked somewhere (according to my friend!)

Once again, good job to all the committee members!
