UPNM Is Not A Bad Choice

Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM, known also as National Defence University) is a new university in our country. The main campus is in Sg. Besi, Kuala LUmpur. This university was formerly as Akademi Tentera Malaysia (ATMA). This university produces undergraduate to be the officers in Malaysia Armed Forces.

Pays are based on the which you are in. Followings are the amount you will get:
Foundation Year- RM 1206.96
1st Year- RM 1293.48
2nd Year- RM 1380.00
3rd Year- RM 1466.52
4th Year- RM 1553.04

Able to serve in either Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Navy or Royal Malaysian Air Force
Chances of going oversea for courses are open wide
Army training is compulsory

I like UPNM too..Met few of the engineering students while participating the SISWASAT competition..Pheww..they came like soldiers with so many equipments..nice guys also:D

woohoo.. get paid monthly! Bestnye!
I have been with UPNM students in a few competitions and national exhibitions. They are definitely different from other learning institutions – they came by army trucks, wearing army uniforms instead of university buses and formal wears. macho giler!

do you know..not all of student at upnm get allowances like me becouse i’m student from matriculation. so if anyone want to study at upnm after matriculation.please think carefuly becouse you must find your own sponser like at other IPTA…

upnm?…bro murali…im from very poor family but i hv hope that i will excel in my spm….fitness wise as strong as hungry bull…my father was ex fighter jet pilot who died in vain ten years ago ….i want to be him …sit in the cockpit with ALFA…ROMEO…bubbling though the radio gear….shower me with advice…anyone? anyone?

as you’ve the confidence to excell, get good results in your SPM, especially Maths, BM, Eng and science…I may know some people who can get you in for pilot program, not necessarily UPNM.

as a third year student here,formerly known as ATMA N now known as UPNM,I encourage civilian from outsides especially the student after SPM to apply into UPNM..For applying as an officer cadet ,you are given a lot of privileges including salary as a cadet,military wearing,mess food,cosy dwelling and so on…and for the requirement here please refer to http://www.upnm.edu.my.

hi everyone, ur life will be tough here since NC change in 2008.. Life here will be damn packed for foundation.. Your time to sleep and study are reduced now.. you have to find ur own time to study.. If u dont want to be military officer dont apply here.. I’m sure u dont want to blame urself later on..

One of the best University, that has literally sent 8 astronaut is Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), reputedly known to be the best for Aerospace Engineering in Russia / Post Soviet Union. However, employment is not retricted only in Engineering, but also Management. One of my alumni, is currently the boss of a Telco Company.

If I’m not mistaken, all application procedure is listed at their website =)
Last time (when it’s still ATMA), i had to go thru a couple of selection process that lasted for approx 1 week. They test your physical fitness, health, Intellectual capability and expose you to what you’re getting into. Generally, results from 5A and above would be good but it’s fairly competitive to get into top courses such as Aeronautical Engineering. I really hope that there would be more non-malay applicant and female applicant that would apply for UPNM.

the website just state the difference between pelajar cadet and pelajar AM..
but the way to apply as pelajar kadet is
not stated..
if i m a pelajar AM..is there any guarantee i will bcome an military officer??
AS i know when the pelajar cadet graduate,they will ditauliahkan as military officer automatically..
but for pelajar they only ditauliahkan as backup military officer…

go to the upnm website n see for urself. Not many chinese apply becoz of the hard life. Most of them can’t take it. Mine u we r only a hand full. u r most welcome to join. if u do not get it here at upnm well there is always KTD (Kolej Tentera Darat) in Ulu Tiram Johor. Look it up at the malaysian army website.

Dear all that are reading the blogs posted here. If u intend joining UPNM for the money then u hv the wrong choice for a career. I hv seen many who hv passed out and r having a hard time adjusting to the real life that lies ahead. They r lost and in the end only frustrates themselves. Think b4 u make ur decisions. Not just for the RM during ur stay there. LIfe is tough inside n outside of the college.

UPNM terdiri daripada pelajar awam dan pelajar kadet..
pelajar awam akan diserapkan masuk ke dalam PALAPES..
uuntuk pengetahuan anda semua, hanya segelintir sahaja yang join PALAPES sekarang ini..
itupun menumpang di UPM…
sampai sekarang UPNM masih tiada unit PALAPES sendiri..
sedangkan dalam kontrak mengatakan pelajar awam akan diserap ke unit PALAPES sebaik sahaja mendaftar masuk UPNM..
so mana hala tuju pelajar awam ni suma?
pentadbiran tidak cekap!!!
nasib baik aku dah blah dari UPNM awal-awal lagi..
at least aku tak la terkontang kanting kat situ…
tanpa mengetahui hala tuju masa depan aku….

im glad that you are interested. the requirement depends on your RESULT and COURSE that you interested.
The majority of course Malays with 90% plus non-malays about less than 10%.there are more Indians than Chinese.

getting into cadet was easy during my time. so i cannot guarantee you that you will be selected or not. btw, you still have the chance.
if you got chosen as civilian student in UPNM, there is way to be a cadet when you in your 2nd year. people have done that b4

there are open opportunities here in the military. Male of female the chances for courses and promotions are all the same. The military does not discriminate either. It is just up to every individual to seek what he or she wants to do with their life in the military. Are you game for it?

you dont have to worry much. there is future for ladies in armed forces. if you are non-malay, the chance is better because there are less ladies(non-malay) in the forces. . not easy to get easy life. the trainings is hard for ladies and also guys. success wont come easy.good luck trying

hye all….im one of the graduate officer from ATMA(UPNM)….and im so proud to be 1 of them….n i wonder why people wanna dumb it off…?? it is the good start for students to achieve their ambition….btwn….u havent pay any fees or books or whatever needs….but then, u will be giving every month salary which equal to a pocket money….dont u think its too good for us people???

I think I like outdoor activities more than indoor ones. I’m into sports and I think I can do it in the military. But one of the reasons that I’m interested in UPNM is the guaranteed employment. Moreover I’m still not sure what to do in future. Will I be guaranteed with a job?

Helo i thought the indians were suppose to help the indians. But the indians in upnm only know to rag the indians untill feel miserable. Useless people My cousin is studying there he tells me all kind of stories n they boast about how they rag the indians This is all they can do cannot study properly. but the other race dont do this much

if your cousin dont fit to be ragged which is a part of traninig, he is not the man to be in UPNM. it is not place for “bapok” to be there..it is military institution…not a public uni. if your cousin is no more in UPNM, im glad for it.shame!!
