Divided, aren’t we?
Written by Amutha on September 28, 2008 – 2:23 pmMost of the time, it really cracks me up seeing how some of us debate and end up writing super long articles advocating multiracial issues, be it social or politics. Don’t get me wrong. It is indeed good (and ideal) to push for ‘race-free’ country, but are we even ‘qualified’ to do so?
Even as a community, we are divided. Divided by region we once originated from; religion we profess to; social-class which still exists till this very minute; political parties we support and so on. The Tamils are with Tamils, the Hindus are with Hindus, the Gounders are with Gounders and MIC supporters stick with MIC supporters too. Even the Sikhs prefer to be categorized as Lain-lain rather than called India. While there are those who manage to set themselves free from these clutches, most of us are still stuck in it.

We are not in war with anyone else but between ourselves. As long as we are divided by so-called unique identity, we would never be able to fight for our rights as ONE single community.
This is not a question of heritage or religion or anything close. This is a question of unity. Are we truly united? We may be able to say yes but deep down in our heart, we know the truth.

Blogs and ads
Written by poobalan on September 16, 2008 – 4:42 pmHmmm..something funny happened. My article not appearing! Rupa – rupanya, I typed in the wrong editor. Wonder why I see two editors in Mindsblog’s "write post" section.
Anyway, let me try to rewrite what I wrote earlier:
Not sure what inspired me to write in Mindsblog today. The "write a post" button looked tempting, and now I find myself staring at the editor, devoid of any ideas.
The last thing I wrote on my blog was about my first earning from blogging. Guess I’ll talk about that.
I’m sure many of us have some sort of ad on our blogs. Do you all monitor the progress or worthiness of such ads? I for one, haven’t logged into Adsense for a long time now.
How are your ads doing? Adsense, Nuffnang, Advertlets etc? Any comments?

Why I don’t see Indians in gyms?
Written by Amutha on September 6, 2008 – 10:33 amIts a question that I always ask myself whenever I go for work out at a nearby gymnasium. The majority are Chinese (I see equal numbers of males and females), some Malays (more males than females) and very few Indians (maybe not more than 5 at a time).
While I agree gyms’ charges are kind of high, the centres come with good equipments, various different studios and even professionals watching over you. Its a money-worth-spending-over activity.I told Vijay photography is an expensive hobby when he asked me about DSLR in the previous post, but working out in the gym is not a hobby but something that will benefit you short and long term. Why not spend money for such ‘health investment’?
I have personally recommended few of my friends to join but the excuses that I get "expensive", "no time", "far la..lazy to travel" etc. But we don’t mind spending time travelling to shopping malls and clubs to meet people, and we have the time to eat 3 full meals a day isn’t it? Between, I use to for evening jog in a nearby park and I only see Indians when they come to date there. No one is going to charge any fees to jog in a public park but I don’t see our people doing it. So, clearly money is not the issue here.
The prevalence of obesity and chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus is record high among our people. Why is that so? Besides diet, being sedentary is one of the major factor. If one do not take care of himself when he is in 20s and 30s, then I would say he is already getting himself prepared for one or more illness when he reach mid-40s!
So, I am asking my friends again – Who are going to come to the gym with me next week?
