I wonder why is it limited to 100 person?

It was about 60 last year and according to bloggerbuff official website, it’s limited to 100.

“Bloggers Buff 2008 will be held with much greater extend. ”

    Another 40 -greater extend?

I saw the number of sponsors for this is massive ranging from Maxis to Nokia.

And if it is supposed to target and encourage people who are new to blogging or planning to start up a blog, why the high RM 60 entry fees?

I’m not sure if there is any goodies given during the session or if this fees goes to some ‘other costs’ ,so please enlighten me.
    :D

Hi Durai. I will try my level best to answer your queries.

    1. As much as we love to have as many bloggers as possible, the venue which is being sponsored by GoMobile could only accommodate 100 people.

    2. BB2007 was attended not by 60 participants but about 35 participants. BB2008 is being organized in a better venue, for more participants (180% more than last year), more well-known speakers, more sponsors and so on. In that way.. yes, BB2008 is being held in with much greater extend relative to BB2007.

    3. The “other sponsors” mentioned in the official blog meant those sponsors not directly involved in BB2008. BB2008 only one of those events organized in conjunction with GoMobile and these sponsors are involved in the ‘bigger’ picture.

    4. The fee charged are not to make money but as a commitment fee. There are goodies to be given out to the participants, besides lucky draws and competitions. The blogging world made of various segments of population with different interest. That is why we are having 2 sessions and one has the liberty to choose which session he/she would like to attend and pay accordingly. The second part of the event is targeted at younger crowd and the fee to participate in the second segment is only RM20.

This is not a reply from myself as the secretary of the organizing chairman.this is a reply from Novinthen as Novinthen :) . lol.

1.I wonder why stadium bukit jalil can accomodate 80,000 people only.. OH!!!.. its capacity is 80,000 only.. Duh!..Like that,The venue of B.BUFF can accommodate 100 people only. The word GREAT is a subjective matter. Differs from one person to another person. Would u agree? 40 for us is great. Also “greater extend” relies on the hi-profile speakers we have invited.. Last year we had Kenny Sia, this year we have Tun Dr mahathir together with Dato Ahmad Talib and Rocky Bru is on the list. That is a great extend for US. Maybe not for you la,because for you , im sure you can invite Barack Obama and have a BBUFF with 10,000 people in planet Pluto.

2.The LONG list of sponsors are sponsors of GOMOBILE. Not direct sponsors of Bloggers Buff. The only sponsor we got is Advertlets at the moment. We put up the logos because they are sponsors of our sponsor.

    3. RM 60 is a committment fees. We dont want people just to simple register and not turn up that day. AND if you can OPEN UR EYES , the second session, which is for the NEW AND UPCOMING BLOGGERS ,[So you want to blog?] is only RM20. RM 20 avelooooo high price ah thambi?. If that price is HIGH for you , i dono wat to say.

Up to now we have more then half of the seats taken ready. So i assume the price tag is not so high compared with high profile speakers that are going to come. Frankly speaking , inviting Tun Dr M to any event is not a easy job. especially by Indians. And u know what, half of the seats taken are by NON-Indians. U know why ? because they know the price is WORTH it.If its too high for you , you can always NOT go to the event. Right ? Why wanna keeeeeeep on grumbling for anything anyone does? Like the tamil saying Senjalum Tappu. Seiyatiyum Tappu.

    3. There will be plenty of goodies for winners of contest. and more are coming the way.

    Nandri Vanakam . Valghe Valarghe.

Wouldn’t it be also good if you got a lawyer or someone who was familiar with cyberlaw that can address some confusing legal issues?

    Reply

    Kavilan Nakaswaram Reply:

aaahh.. that’s one issue i’d like to see more discussions made…

msian cyberlaw only covers the basic issues… they are too generalised, thus punishment on specific crimes are kinda grainy.

I did a simple research on it while studying (2 yrs ago), and amazingly, it barely covers half of the prevalent issues in cyber security, accountability and privacy.

I guess the 1st step would be to restructure the law according to current cyber trends. In the computer world, what is relevant last month may not be relevant this month.

Dear Frags. We have invited Attorney General of Malaysia – Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail to talk on Legal issue. He has not confirmed his attendance yet. But surely there will be someone coming from AG’s office, thats for sure.

err..guys and gal, sorry to interrupt, but it should be “greater extenT” not “greater extenD”.

yah, i know its something out of topic, but the difference between extend and extent is something that many people are confused about.

secondly, i’ll be attending (after managing to juggle the weekend activities), so hope to meet mindsblog members there.

thirdly, why would you put your sponsor’s sponsors logos? i was curious about this statement. Then i found out that GoMobile is an event from 20-23 Nov which consists of a summit, expo, and dinner. GoMobile is under LTT Global Communications. So, I suppose Bloggers Buff 2008 is being conducted under the umbrella of GoMobile 2008.

Since Novinthen clarified that Advertlets is the only sponsor so far, then I think its misleading to put a long list of sponsors of some other event as sponsors of BB2008. Unless its an contractual agreement between GoMobile and BB2008 organiser.

Ah.. thanks for pointing out my error. It goes right into my dictionary. Should be more careful after this. Thanks :)

It’s great to know that you will be there for BB. BB2007 was when we met for the first time, if my memory serves me right.

GoMobile is the main sponsor for BB2008. It is their wish that we acknowledge the sponsors of their event as well. Thus, I have to incorporate the other logos in the official blog.

Advertlets is sponsoring some prizes mainly for the second session.
